Tuesday March 18, 2014: Spring was only a few days away but the winter blues were still being felt around HRM. What better way to fight the blues on a Tuesday night could there be then to head to The Metro Centre for the Hedley Wild Live tour.

Sonic Concerts was kind enough to provide me with a media pass for the show. I would be in the “photography pit” directly in front of the stage for the first 3 songs from each of the 4 artists on the bill. It’s about as good as it gets for the chance of capturing some good images of the show.

Alyssa Reid was first to take the stage and after the first or 2nd song she was receiving a warm welcome from the Halifax audience.

Hip Hop artist JRDN was next on stage. Born here in Halifax, JRDN moved to Toronto at a very early age. Prior to his career in music he attended St. Francis Xavier University where he played on the varsity basketball team.

Danny Fernamdes was the final act before Hedley and he did a good job working the crowd and getting them ready for Hedley. All night the change over between bands seemed to go without a hitch until they prepared the massive black curtains across the front of the stage. After raising and lowering the trussing that was supporting the curtain they finally got it to stay in place and raised the trussing to it’s resting place. I was feeling bad for the stage hands since all this effort was only so they could make all the front curtains drop at the same moment to start Hedley’s set.

Since I was on a Media Pass, my focus for the 3 Hedley songs spent in the pit, was shooting as many shots as I could. All I can remember is screaming young girls as Hedly’s Jacob Hoggard raced from one part of the stage to the next at a pace that would take insane cardio to maintain.
